What they do
This is a free and open-source cross-platform streaming and recording program developed with Qt and maintained by the OBS Project. The OBS Studio provides powerful functionality so you can create professional broadcasts with overlays, several video sources and graphics in the stream.
Stream with Quickchannel via OBS
If you have the OBS software already installed, you can easily connect Quickchannel and the OBS encoder.
Follow these simple steps:
- Log into the Quickchannel platform.
- Create a live event.
- Set up a starting time.
- Choose the channel you would like to use (streamkey).
- Go to the menu on top and click on Miscellaneous.
- Copy the Video Source (streamkey).
Then, please log in to OBS and follow these steps:
- Go to Settings.
- Click on Stream in the menu.
- Paste the video source (streamkey) into the field called Server.
Before moving on, make sure to cut everything after and including /mp4 (in the link) and paste it into the field for Stream Key.
After that, go to Output and check the settings. The recommended settings are:
- Video Bitrate: 1000 Kbps
- Encoder: Software (x264)
- Audio Bitrate: 128
Once you have completed all the steps, you can begin streaming.
As you may know, you can custom design your Quickchannel video player. If you wish to dual stream with OBS, you need to use two computers, as OBS only allows you to stream one project at a time (single stream).
For the second computer follow the same set up, but change “_cam1” for “_vga1”.
You can now begin streaming.
