Does my Quickchannel subscription automatically renew?

Generally, the subscription is for 12 months and is renewed automatically.

How do I update my billing information?

What payment methods do you accept for my Quickchannel account?

We accept bank transfers.

When will I be billed?

Generally, invoices are sent for the whole subscription period 1 month before the subscription period starts.

What do I need to go live with Quickchannel?

You can stream using Quickchannel in a variety of ways and with many different types of technology. You can choose to stream with an encoder (hardware or software), via your browser or a conferencing system. You will also need a device with a camera, microphone and internet connection.

What does Hosting/GB stand for?

In order for broadcasters to deliver their online streams, they use streaming server hosting. A server is a computer that delivers content over the internet. Using a server that specialises in storing and delivering online content is known as hosting.

GB stands for gigabytes, which is a unit of data equal to roughly one billion bytes and is used as a measure of data storage space or bandwidth on a platform. Quickchannel measures a GB as 1000 MB, a TB as 1000 GB.

Your video creations and the quality of those videos will determine how much data you host.

What does streaming traffic stands for?

Streaming refers to any media content, live or recorded, delivered to computers and mobile devices via the internet and played in real time or as video on demand. Streaming requires a certain amount of speed for optimal performance, the higher the resolution, like 4K, the more speed is needed for virtually flawless streaming.

What is a ‘streaming channel’?

Each user account and license has a streaming channel which is a stream key that can be used in a integration or directly with a encoder to stream with Quickchannel. Each streaming channel supports single and dual stream.

Is there a limitation on number of viewers?

The limitation on number of viewers depends on your chosen subscription. As your audience grows, you can add more data to your subscription to allow for even more viewers. In our base license up to 1000 simultaneous viewers are included.

What happens when we go over the hosting or streaming limit?

You will get a notification when you are close to your limit, the additional data used will be invoiced separately. If you go over your limit on a regular basis, you could add extra data to your subscription.

What is a CDN?

The Content Delivery Network (CDN) is a highly distributed platform of servers that reduces the physical distance between the server and the end user, allowing for faster loading of web pages and video content.

What is a eCDN?

Enterprise Content Delivery Network (eCDN) is a content delivery network that leverages private infrastructure, such as a company network, to deliver content. eCDN is often used by companies to provide internal video streaming to their employees across the globe. They ensure efficient delivery and minimize bandwidth usage.

What is an encoder?

There are two types of encoders – hardware encoder and software encoders. A hardware encoder is a device designed for live streaming of videos over the Internet. It captures, compresses, and converts audio-visual data into a format for streaming and recording. A hardware encoder will give great quality for both the production and live stream.

Software encoders are programs that run on your computer or another computing device. These encoders are typically a cheaper encoding option that is popular among beginner broadcasters. They are easy to set up and users find that they can easily update encoding software whenever a new version or upgrade is available.

Which streaming encoders does Quickchannel work with?

At Quickchannel you can choose to use a hardware or a software decoder. In addition, we offer WebRTC, which permits direct streaming from a browser on any device with a camera, microphone and a browser. With Quickchannel, your organisation can also stream through a wide range of video conferencing systems via one of our integrations or with RTMP.

Do you need an encoder to stream with Quickchannel?

No, In addition to encoders, we offer WebRTC, which lets you stream directly from your browser on a device that features a camera, microphone and a web browser, and, as Quickchannel supports RTMP and SIP, you'll be able to stream via your company's video conferencing solution as well.

What bitrate do you recommend to stream with?

For most applications, we recommend sending a high-definition stream at 720p resolution with video resolution HD 720p, 1280x720 and a video bitrate of 1,500-4,000 kbps.

Is Quickchannel GDPR and WCAG compliant?

Yes. Your and your audiences’ data are safe with us, and the platform as well as the video player is WCAG compliant and accessible to all.

Where is Quickchannel’s servers located?

Quickchannel’s main datacenters are in Northern Europe and with the possibility to have specific PoP’s in regions based on customer needs. Quickchannel also provides Hybrid and OnPrem offering where you as a customer can choose where you deploy.
